In our long tenure with Orange we came up with the idea of making a TV show for Orange around music. To cut a long story short we worked with Endemol and negotiated with ITV to create Orange Playlist. It remains the most successful AFP of all time and the only one to be reccommisisoned 3 times. Since then, we have made 14 more branded content programmes/Series.

Turfalgar Square

We came, we saw, we turfed! To promote the importance of London's green spaces we created, produced and turfed Trafalgar Square. It certainly caught the attention of the media with front page images on newspapers all around the world and entries on thousands of blog sites.

Cold Beer Amnesty

We've been looking after Carling and developing their music strategy and implementation for the past 5 years. One of the undisputed highlights over this time is the current Cold Beer Amnesty mechanic in which we swap any can of unopened lager for the equivalent cold Carling. To date we've swapped some 400,000 cans of beer!

Pokemon Launch

The launch of Nintendo's phenomenon to the UK

Yup, guilty as charged! One of Cake's early projects with Nintendo was to launch the hugely popular Pokemon franchise to the UK. We created a highly theatrical arrival moment that included: 150 actors, a cross-channel ferry, 4 artic lorries, a helicopter, 2 Range rovers and 8 motorcycle outriders escorting the vehicles from Dover to London. We filmed the event ourselves, syndicated it to broadcast news and received the highest accolade of the time – the 'and finally' slot on the News at 10. Pokemon remains the biggest selling computer game franchise of all time and we are still working it some 9 years later.

Keeping Abreast of the Issues

Research by Shock Absorber showed that exercising without adequate support could cause permanent damage women's breasts. Once the delicate ligaments are stretched nothing can be done to return them to their former shape. To educate women on the consequences of exercising without a sports bra Cake created a viral tool allowing users to see the impact they are having on their upper bodies by selecting size and level of activity to create a motion graphic representation. Site traffic went through the ceiling…!

Mobile Monkey Business

We hooked up Motorola with The Gorillaz to create a series of memorable moments around the bands only US shows at The Harlem Apollo. With the expertise of Jamie Hewlitt we created wallpapers, a micro-site and a full 3D animation film all delivered seamlessly to the handsets of gig goers via Bluetooth. We still hold the record for the largest ever single Bluetooth send out in the USA – not bad eh!

Scissor Sisters Live From Trafalgar Square

When Motorola signed up to (RED) Cake created a launch party on a major scale to announce it. What better way to raise awareness of the campaign than producing a live Scissor Sisters concert for 15,000 people in London's Trafalgar Square? Each of Cake’s skill sets came in to play from concept to design, event organisation, digital delivery and of course the PR machine. What’s more, we also filmed it and secured a broadcast on Channel 4 half an hour after the gig finished.

Evian Lido

On the Pool with Evian

The Brockwell Park Lido was about to close due to lack of funding so Cake rushed to the rescue. By partnering the owners of this famous outdoor pool with client Evian, Cake was able to not only save the pool, but also install a huge Evian logo on a popular flight path. So popular in fact, that reputedly BA offered the lido owners a large sum to remove the logo and replace it with theirs – fortunately they were told where to stick it…

Axe: Base Below Zero

Rocking out in the Artic Circle

Axe/Lynx: Base Below Zero. Bands, husky dog riding, reindeer racing, the Northern Lights, Faithless, a Channel 4 TV show and the Arctic Circle. This was an achievement. We created and produced an event for 300 competition winners from around the world to party in the Arctic Circle where they rode on husky driven sleds to a custom built ice arena for a 24 hour party. Temperatures plummeted to minus 35C. Meanwhile in the comfort of their own homes some 13 million people around Europe watched it on telly.

Wii Launch

Wii Have Lift Off!

A year long intensive PR campaign by Cake ensured that Wii became the most successful console launch in UK history and sold out across Europe in its first weekend. Featuring a launch event for 800 media from 15 countries, co-ordinated midnight store openings across Europe, a spectacular UK launch at HMV Oxford Street and a prolonged strategic PR campaign Cake helped secure Wii's position as the number one games console at Christmas. Over 7,000 pieces of coverage were secured across Europe for Wii launch period with a value of over £15.5 Million. In the UK Nintendo enjoyed a 55.4% Media Share of Voice between September 2006 and March 2007 a 14.3% increase on the year before.
